Japanese Percussion Silver Decorated Tanegashima Converted From Matchlock
44 1/2 inches overall with 33 inch barrel. This shorter than average tanegashima has silver decoration on both barrel and stock, the stock of the most wonderful grain and appearance. One minor crack forward of the elegant copper, brass and silver trigger guard.
Originally made as a traditional matchlock this gun was at some stage in the past converted to percussion, utilising the original style of matchlock long-arm hammer.
This antique Japanese firearm presents very nicely and is an excellent representative of the type at a very reasonable price point.
