    A Good Continental Late 17th Century Rapier With Elaborate Shell Guard Circa 1670.
37 and 3/4 inch rigid, narrow diamond shaped blade with 4 inch fullers. 
Signed in the fullers “GILLERMO I” and “ALLEMANIA (sic)” for Germany. Well forged large shell guard finely fluted with elaborate steel bands reaching up to the quillions and D-guard. Quillions are 11 and 3/4 inches across. Fine steel wire bound grip secured by 4 steel straps. Mushroom shaped steel pommel decorated with petals. 
Sword is 47 inches overall and shows a most attractive old age brown patina overall with no corrosion.
