An Excellent And Rare Greene Breech Loading Underhammer Rifle Marked On Breech Tang “GREENE’S PATENT/NOV 17, 1857” NSN. 35 inch round barrel. .53 caliber.

A superior example with 95% original bluing on all surfaces including buttplate, barrel bands, barrel, action, triggrguard and bolt. Walnut fullstock with almost all the “hair” and wonderful grain.

Bore is brilliant mint and rifle is likely unfired. 900 bought by United States Government, 3000 made for Russia (no examples known) and very small quantities sold through William Reed & Sons, Boston of which this gem specimen may be one.

Impossible to upgrade this excellent Greene rifle. If you want a virtually mint one of these unique rifles, the first bolt action rifle adopted by U.S, Ordnance, look no further. Has original ramrod of course.
