A Rare And Highly Sought After 16th/17th Century Heavy Continental Pole Axe.

9 inch crescentic blade. 4 inch four sided fluke. A remarkable 11 inches across from edge to point of fluke. The axe showing hand forging and wear commensurate with its age. The 60 and 3/4 inch four sided wooden pole is heavily reinforced with four long iron straps, two are 24 inches long and two are 26 and 1/2 inches long necessary to support the axe when used in battle.

Condition of the axe itself is good overall. The pole is likely a later but correct replacement. Pole axes are among the rarest and most difficult to obtain early hafted weapons. This example is most attractive and will look fantastic in any collection of late Medieval or early Renaissance polearms.
