A Rare And Attractive Napoleonic Era French Officer’s Saber With Lovely Fire Gilt Eagle Head Hilt The Splendid Blued And Gilt Blade By The Paris Maker G. Baur Circa 1810.
32 and 3/4 inch saber featuring a 10 inch niter blue panel adorned with a trophy of arms. Gilt panel with maker’s name “G. Baur a Solingen”. The panel retaining 95% of its bright blue and gold. The rest of the blade retaining nearly all of its original bright polish.
Stirrup hilt with 98% of its bright fire gilding. Beautifully checkered black wood grip in pristine mint condition. The fierce well cast and chased eagle has its fletching along the spine.
Classic Napoleonic steel scabbard with long brass chape, short brass locket and single brass hanger in fine condition. The beauty and condition of this French saber will please the most discriminating collector of swords of the First Empire.
