A Very Attractive Pair Of Mid-18th Century Full Silver Mounted Gentleman’s Flintlock Pistols Signed ‘Gottfried Pohle’ (Gottfried Pohl, Trachenberg, Schiesien/Poland 1757-1762).
8 and 3/4 inch round barrels with top flat and silver front sight. Beautiful deeply sunken gold filled Pohle poincon on each barrel. Plain, flat, unbolted lock plate with swan neck cock and molded frizzen. Full silver mounts comprising large austere sideplate, triggerguard with vegetal finial, ramrod pipes, silver tipped rammers. buttcap, and elaborate silver sideplate, pierced cast and chased with a five pointed crown.
Finely figured walnut full stocks carved in relief along fore=end, and around breech tang. Actions functions crisply and bores are fair. 15 and 1/2 inches overall. A very attractive pair of German silver mounted flintlock pistols by a fine maker in fine overall condition.
