A Very Good Classic Napoleonic War Era English Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss By George Goodwin (1807-1818 at 2 Ann Street, Birmingham) With The Desirable Snap Bayonet Circa 1810.
14 and 1/2 inch half round half octagonal barrel. 1 and 1/4 inch muzzle. The barrel with Gunmaker’s proofs and signed on the top flat in script “London”. Stepped, double bolted lock with push on safety singed “G. Goodwin & Co”. Nicely engraved elegant swan neck cock. Line engraved frizzwen.
Brass triggerguard with pineapple finial. Engraved side nails. Brass buttplate finely engraved with fleurettes, Brass ramrod thimbles. Original brass tipped ramrod with steel worm. The action is excellent on both half and full cock and the bore is good. 11 and 5/8th inch long triangular bayonet snaps out smartly.
Well figured walnut fullstock retains nearly all of what appears to be original varnish. 29 and 1/2 inches overall with bayonet closed. 41 and 3/8th inches with bayonet extended.
