A Rare And Possibly Unique American Rifled Percussion Wender “Kentucky” Pistol By John Keller (Carlisle, Cumberland Co., Pa. 1823-1844) Circa 1825.

8 and 1/2 inch deeply rifled octagonal barrels with German silver foresights. .45 caliber. Breech with buckhorn sight. Finely engraved German silver inlay behind breech. Barrels retain considerable original fading brown.

Nicely engraved back action lock featuring scrolls. The hammer engraved ensuite. Large steel sideplate engraved with scrolls ensuite with lock and hammer. Scroll engraved steel triggerguard signed “J. KELLER CARLISLE” in stamped block letters.

Highly figured walnut butt with classic characteristic American “Kentucky” percussion pistol configuration. The wood retains much original varnish finish. Pistol with full cock only. Triggerguard releases barrels to revolve. Bores are fine. 14 inches overall.

This is one rare pistol and by a well listed Pennsylvania maker.
