A Very Attractive And Good Quality Genuine American Flintlock “Kentucky” Pistol Circa 1810.
6 and 3/4 inch ‘Spanish’ form smoothbore barrel, half round half octagonal. .45 caliber, no proofs and unsigned. Plain breech tang. Double bolted classic American style flintlock lock with faceted pan and no bridle. Faceted frizzen. Lock unmarked.
Austere American style brass furniture, the triggerguard finial ending in a stylized ‘pineapple’. Large unadorned brass sideplate with two side nails. Brass buttcap line engraved of bird’s head form of classic “Kentucky” form. Dark maple full stock with classic “teardrop” raised carving behind breech tang, lock and sideplate.
Overall fine condition except for an old well worn 2 and 1/4 inch sliver loss on the left side of fore-end. Action is good on both full and half cock. Bore is fair. The form of this pistol is true American early 19th century. 13 inches overall.
