A Very Fine Late 18th/Early 19th Century Persian Khanjar Dagger With Splendid Carved Hilt Depicting The King Of Persia And Courtiers Surmounted By Panels Of Islamic Calligraphy And Excellent Early Blade.
9 inch curved double edge blade with two broad fullers and panels of gold Damascened calligraphy at forte, the blade of extremely fine ladder wootz Damascus with clear pattern. The five inch hilt with exquisite relief carving and beadwork borders in very fine condition.
This dagger is far superior both in execution and quality than those commonly offered. It is several cuts above. In an original fine brocade covered wood scabbard with pierced silver chape and diminutive pierced silver belt clip.
The whole in fine original condition throughout. The best example of this type we have seen.
