9 and 7/8ths inch round brass barrel with double “wedding rings” and bands at breech. London gunmakers proofs and “LB”. Signed Barbar, 60 caliber.

The quality and elegance of the barrel is typical of this master’s work, The brass ‘banana’ for lock with integral brass pan is lightly but elegantly engraved and boldly signed “BARBAR”.

Beautiful openwork side plate taken from one of the pattern books of leafy meander. Triggerguard with acanthus finial. Turned brass ramrod pipes characteristic of early 18th century pistols. Engraved spurred brass buttcap with gargoyle face pommel cap. Elaborate vacant brass thumb piece.

Beautiful figured and molded fullstock carved in relief. Fine condition overall. Even the ramrod is original though missing its worm. A first class early English pistol by one of the greatest English gunmakers of the first quarter of the eighteenth century. 16 inches overall.
