A Good And Most Attractive Matched Pair Of Figured Walnut Stocked Italian Flintlock Holster Pistols Circa 1700.
12 and 5/8ths inch round smoothbore chiseled barrels. .55 caliber. The barrels chiseled in relief with trophy of arms above seated royal figures, one a queen and the other a king. Brass fore-sights. Stepped flat lock plates with floral engraving and finely chiseled tails. The elegant swan neck cocks held by relief chiseled screws in the form of a helmeted warrior. Pierced, engraved dragon side plates.
Finely sculpted trigger guards and ramrod pipes. Large spurred steel buttcaps relief chiseled with expanded blossom motif. True “skull crusher” pommel caps. Relief carved root wood fullstocks with exceptional figure and no losses. Ramrods appear to be original to the pistols,
Steel condition is good throughout with good engraving on lock. Expected wear to royal figures on the barrels. Actions function on both half and full cock. Bores are good for period 1700 holster pistols.
A full 20 inches overall. This is a fine, showy, and early pair of Italian pistols at an extremely attractive price.
