A Very Fine And Scarce Civil War Civilian C.S. Pettengill Army Percussion Revolver Serial 19xx.

7 and 1/2 inch octagonal barrel. .44 caliber. Very limited production with approximately 3.400 made.

The Pettengill Army is rarely found in fine condition and this one is better than fine. The barrel retains 95% bright original blue. The lever with most of its faded carehardening. The cylinder shows 85% blue much of it bright. The frame is a lovely smooth patina with absolutely no corrosion and traces of bluing. Both Pettegill’s and Allen & Wheellock Army revolvers nearly always have flaked patinated frames.

The walnut grips rate excellent with none of the usual chips. All screw heads are perfect displaying much finish.

Markings, mechanically excellent. Bore is excellent and the revolver may be unfired. The finest condition Pettengill Army we have seen offered for sale.
