A Most Attractive English Brass Barrel Boxlock Flintlock Blunderbuss Pistol With Snap Bayonet And Extensive Silver Wire Inlay In Butt By Richards, London Circa 1790
6 inch barrel. One inch bell. 4 and 3/4 inch triangular snap bayonet. Brass frame signed “RICHARDS” “LONDON” within a reserve. Highly figured walnut butt extensively inlaid with fine silver wire in flourishes (some loss).
Overall condition rates fine. Bayonet snaps out softly but locks. Action is excellent. Bore is good. Brass tipped ramrod is a fine replacement. Length of pistol overall 12 inches. 17 inches with bayonet extended.
A fine and most attractive brass barrel, snap bayonet, blunderbuss pistol by a good English gunmaker.
