    This is a good 17th Century North European Military Backsword Circa 1640.
The long 39 inch blade features broad double fullers extending its entire length, and is 1 and 1/4" wide at ricasso.
The extremely elaborate basket guard features a finger loop and recurved quillions, and integral rectangular hand guard, topped by a globose plain pommel. Shaped plain bog oak grip. 
The condition of the blade is attractively age patinated and razor sharp. Hilt is a deep even age brown as is the pommel. Grip with beautiful centuries old hand worn patina. 
Sword is homogenous and has never been dismounted. 
46 inches overall and made for a very tall stalwart officer.
