A Fine Large North Indian Rajasthan Gold Damascened “Punch Dagger” Katar Mid 18th Century Circa 1750.
The 9 and 3/8th inch blade of fine wootz Damascus with swelled point, central rib finely chiseled and gilded at forte, Nearly 3 inches wide. The legs measuring a full 9 inches also of wootz finely Damascened in gold (significant wear to gilding). 18 and 3/8th inches overall.
The blade in fine state of polish with wootz visible in the reserve, This fine and desirable katar comes with its original wood scabbard covered with original well worn red cloth and its original gold Damascened iron chape.
