A Fine And Elegant Long Dutch Military Wheellock Holster Pistol Circa 1620.

18 and 1/4 inch round barrel octagonal at breech. 62 caliber smoothbore. The breech struck with three marks possibly Amsterdam. The barrel in very fine condition. The convex lock with classic Dutch wheel retaining stud at six o’clock. Sliding pan cover.

Three side nails secure the lock characteristic of Dutch wheellock pistols according to the greatest collector of Dutch ivory stock and wheellock pistols, Henk Visser. Mr. Visser’s finest flintlock and wheellock pistols are on view at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Steel triggrguard. Steel tipped ramrod appears to be the original. Fine light walnut fullstock with ovoid butt banded with iron. The pistol preserved in good original condition throughout. 26 inches overall. One of the longest and most attractive early 17th century military wheellock pistols we have seen offered.
