Pair of Irish Flintlock Queen Anne Pistols by Collins, Dublin, Circa 1750

A Rare Pair Of Irish Silver Mounted Flintlock Breechloading Turn Off (Queen Ann Type) Pistols Signed By Matthew Collins, Dublin (1748-1771) Circa 1750.

4 and 1/2 inch cannon muzzle barrel. 60 caliber. Breech engraved “DUBLIN”. Finely engraved at breeches. Signed under the frizzen in full “COLLINS”. Long breech tangs finely engraved at tail. Sidekick box lock actions with sculptured swan neck cocks with line engraved frizzens. Both top jaws are original.

Finely engraved steel trigger guards. Silver side plated cast and engraved with trophy of arms, fine silver thumbpiece, silver grotesque mask buttcaps cast and chased in relief. Highly figured walnut butts with coat of later varnish. Actions are crisp on both half and full cock. Bores are good. 11 inches overall.

A very attractive pair of turnoff barrel flintlock pistols by a well known Dublin gunmaker.
