An Extremely Rare And Desirable 100% Genuine German Knightly Renaissance Fighting Mace Circa 1565.

24 and 1/2 inches long and weighing 2 pounds 6 ounces. 7 reinforced flanges, gently tapered. Acorn finial. Shaft is octagonal for 9 inches then spirally fluted for nearly 7 inches. Fluted pommel.

As with most all genuine maces made to split helmets from horseback there is a hole for a leather thong. Brass or bronze braising visible along one flat of the octagonal section of the shaft is a guarantee of period and authenticity.

This lovely original mace is of a known type. Do not confuse this very rare Renaissance mounted combat mace with the numerous Victorian imitations offered for sale. The condition is patinated throughout showing the age appropriate to a nearly five century old example of arms and armour used in combat and made for use and not parade.

There is not another genuine 16th century mace for sale in America. Do not pass this one by.
