Quality English Napoleonic Era Blunderbuss by William Riddell.
With standard English proofs, and barrel marked "London" this brass-barelled blunderbuss manufactured by William Riddell, located on New Street in St Catharines, London, 1795-1804.
The bell muzzle with wedding band and barrel tang with a moderate amount of light engraving. Beautifully worked and engraved trigger guard with standard English pineapple fineal, lock with light border engraving.
Two brass ramrod tubes, one with slight damage; ramrod appears to be a period replacement. The brass mounted butt plate with nice quality engraving. Vacant shield-shaped thumbpiece.
Wood has an average amount of marks and bumps and the action works flawlessly.
A better than average quality blunderbuss.
