A Fine & Rare Unusually Robust Brass Barrel, Steel Mounted French Flintlock Naval Blunderbuss Circa 1795.
15 and 3/8th inch long barrel in three sections with two “wedding ring” bands. A full 2 inch bell at muzzle. Steel breech tang with raised sighting channel. French military style plain double bolted lock with bridled frizzen. Finely molded steel sideplate. Elaborate steel triggerguard with large bow. Fine scalloped steel buttplate.
Beautiful molded walnut fullstock of elegant form. Trumpet end steel ramrod possibly the original. Overall extremely crisp condition of all steel, wood and brass surfaces. Action is powerful and cocks like a new blunderbuss. Bore is good, 30 and 1/2 inches overall.
This is one excellent condition chunky brass barrel military blunderbuss weighing nearly 8 pounds and most attractive.
