A Very Fine Entirely Original Gold Decorated Ottoman Kard In Its Original Calligraphic Gold Lettered Iron Mounted Scabbard All Of Estimable Quality And Condition Circa 1835.
One of the finest card’s we have seen offered. The 8 and 1/2 inch black Damascus wootz blade with gold koftgari panels at forte the left of calligraphy and the right with gold foliage. Original bone panels on steel hilt with exquisite age patina and no damage. Work of art scabbard with iron chape.
Locket, and attaching strap decorated overall with stunning gold calligraphy. Patterned original colored velvet separates the mounts and covers the wood body of the scabbard. The blade in fine condition with magnificent Damascus pattern throughout. Condition of the mounts is pristine throughout.
There is wear to the gold Damascene decoration of the spine of the hilt. 13 inches overall out of the scabbard. This kard is a gem throughout.
